What Is WorkTime HQ?
WorkTime HQ is a free set of work hours and pay tools for hourly employees, freelancers, and the managers who schedule them in the United States. The calculators cover the questions people actually get stuck on: how many hours did I work this week, how much overtime am I owed, how much PTO will I have by August, how many business days are in this date range, and what does my hourly rate come to as an annual salary.
Alongside the calculators we publish plain-English guides explaining the rules the math is based on — how the FLSA defines a workweek, why a bonus can raise your overtime rate, and where state law is stricter than federal law.
Who Publishes This Site
WorkTime HQ is an independent site, published and maintained by a small team of one. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor, any state labor agency, any employer, or any payroll provider. It is funded by advertising, which is why you will see ad slots on the page; advertisers have no influence over the content of our guides or the logic in our calculators.

Why We Built It
Wage rules are public information, but they are written for compliance officers rather than for the person holding the paycheck. Most workers who suspect a payroll error do not need a lawyer — they need to know what the correct number should have been, and which question to ask HR. That gap is what this site tries to close.
The design goal is that a worker on a phone during a break can get a defensible number in under a minute, and, if they want it, an explanation of where that number comes from.
How the Tools Work
Every calculation runs locally in your own browser. Results update as you type, nothing you enter is transmitted to a server, and no account is required. Inputs such as your hourly rate and time card entries are stored only in your device's local storage so the tools are ready next time; clearing your browser data removes them.
In practice this means the site keeps working on a poor connection, and your pay details never sit in someone else's database. Our full data practices are described in the privacy policy.
How We Try to Get It Right
The calculation logic is written against the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and, where a state sets a stricter rule, that state's published requirements. State pages are limited to states whose overtime rules genuinely differ from the federal standard, so we are not publishing near-identical pages for the sake of volume. Important Limitations
WorkTime HQ provides general educational information, not legal, tax, or HR advice. Wage law varies by state, city, industry, employer size, and employment classification, and it changes. Union contracts and company policy can also grant more than the law requires. Treat our results as a way to check whether a number looks right and to frame a question — not as a substitute for your employer's official payroll records, your state labor agency, or a qualified professional.
